I interpret these photos the best I can. Perhaps the coin is prettier than the photos suggest?
It's a gamble, but it is kind of fun!

Nice toning to be sure. Not much downside unless they want total moon money.

Here's another pic from I assume the seller's registry. If you look up the number, you can see who owns the registry and if there is another pic there.
I love full version photoshop ...

Looks like it will be very attractive in hand, especially at different angles. Nice buy.

I wonder why it sold on 7/19 and 8/1 by same seller? return, non-payer, 'stock photo' ?
I can't answer for 7/19, but wouldn't 8/1 be me?

NGC imaging of coins is not that bad, 100% for the last 15 years or so, look like scans though. The quality of imaging has gone up considerably when thumbnail pics were common on Teletrade, etc..
Might be nice. Might not. Like you said, it's a gamble. The photos aren't showing the coin to its best advantage, but they might be hiding stuff too.
Even so, gambling at times can produce nice results.
Looks promising.

nice, let us know when it arrives +++
I know the feeling. I'm trying to be more judicious in my picks lately but it can be hard to not pass up some things... Even if the photos aren't the best. I've had much better luck on getting some nice coins from members here lately than ebay that's for sure! It can be fun though waiting to see if you get a gem or a dud...

When I first saw the picture, I thought it was a 1940s era nickel because of the toning pattern. Looks nice!
I never received this coin. The seller sent a substitute toned nickel instead, which was fine with me. I've got it put away, yet I will retrieve it and add a photo of it to this thread.

Curious as to why this is fine with you? Was it not pointed out that he had sold the coin twice before? And now he sends a different one entirely?
I'd be pissed.
If he sent me a 1913 Liberty Nickel, I'd still return it with a SNAD claim. 😆

Good point.
I try not to sweat the petty.
Here is the nickel I did receive from this seller:

You paid for a 1982 ms66 and got a 1979 ms64 and you are OK with it?! I've returned stuff for far less. That's not a small thing... That's dishonest. A mistake at best. He will just keep doing it if people just keep accepting his lies and shenanigans.

I would at least point out to seller you received wrong item and try for a $10-15 partial refund. I suspect it looks similar to this and came from a Dansco album.
If there’s a 66 on the label and visible toning. I don’t need a real vivid imagination.
Here's one I'm now considering whether the fields are proof enough, have deep mirrors. It is colorful but maybe too colorful. And the rv. holder is scuffed up a bit, With a mintage of 18,720, how many are colorfully toned and carbon spot free but the mirrors......?
But yeah, I'd be a bit unsettled had the seller switched coins on me whether it was $15 or $135 coin. But maybe I haven't reached that age of benevolence. lol But if I'm building a set and already have the date he sends......grrr!

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

I wouldn't be cool with getting a different coin than the one I purchased. Especially in a lower grade.
