Hey. Any idea on these. Gold is the standard lettering. Here’s an example of the silver. They are not the Tiffany versions. Any help. Don’t see any on eBay. Thx as usual

    From BaseballCardPedia:

    Variations:

Some base cards have a Silver Foil Variation, in which the card is stamped in silver foil. This is not to be confused with a 1996 Fleer Team Sets base card in which all cards are stamped in silver foil. The Team Sets cards have a glossy finish and are sequentially-numbered "X of 20" on the reverse. Only nine MLB teams had a Team Set released: Braves, Cubs, Dodgers, Indians, Orioles, Rangers, Red Sox, Rockies, White Sox; thus, most players do not have a Team Set card. See the 1996 Fleer Team Sets page for a checklist of all players with Team Set variations. The Silver Foil variations still have the matte finish.

In addition, a Tiffany Gold Foil Variation is known to exist. Whereas the Tiffany parallels were all stamped in silver holographic foil, these variants were stamped in the same gold foil as the base cards.

The Silver Foil and Tiffany Gold Foil variants were more than likely printing errors that just happened to sneak through the production process.

The 1996 Fleer basketball set has had some of these different colored foils pop up too. I know there has been talk over on the Blowout forum not to long ago about there being some Michael Jordan foil variations as well as 96 Fleer Kobe Bryant rookies too. I don't remember if there was a definiteive reasoning behind the variations posted there though.

1997 topps basketball had gold names too - I have a Tim Duncan with gold name - no idea where it came from or what it is

Curious if there are premiums paid for them?
