Need help with 60 Shilling coin

I have what I believe is a 60 Shillings - James VI coin. The diameter is 42 mm and the weight is 444 grains or 28.77 grams. The condition of the coin seems nicer than what I have found online. If you have experience with these coins I would sure appreciate any info you could give. I plan to send it in for authentication. I am praying that it isn't fake. Thank you.

It looks very modern and very counterfeit.

  • Thank you @TomB I feel the same way when I see coins in the RareCoin Market Report that look like they went straight from the mint into a velvet bag and into a safe. Still hoping :)

  • I just found some photos on Numista and they all have irregular shapes. When it looks to good to be true, it's probably a fake. Back to the drawing board.

Don't waste your money sending for authentication.

    It is modern and fake.

Have a tendency to stay away from foreign coins mainly because I have very little to no knowledge this is one of them. I have a big box of corn point when I was in the military and had to use foreign currency when they're off the ship off the day and nothing you could do with it except just take it home and box it up. How many points look really neat unless it's already authenticated I'm not a buyer.

  • Had it tested by a friend who buys PM and it was copper-nickel.
