Could the grade of the coins have something to do with it?
When you say, "going for" I presume you are looking at closed auctions.
If you are looking at asking prices, that is meaningless.
Either way, why would you condemn eBay? They are a platform just making a market. Or you don't understand that individuals can ask whatever they want for their coins with permission from eBay..
35% silver.
As for comparing prices, needless (or at least I hope) to say, condition will determine price.
A little punctuation goes a long way.
Hard to read the original post with no punctuation.
Perhaps the coins were doubled dies or the 43/2 overdate. There are numerous doubled dies for that date, the most well known being the doubled eye and the overdate which is also a doubled die too.
Even if it had punctuation, it would still be challenging to understand.

I'm guessing the OP is unfamiliar with a Readability score...

Well, mr. mensa,
You should study coinage before you negatively comment in its regards. The 43P Jefferson Nickel you are speaking of was the cheap version of the 43P DDO, should you know what that means, as the 43PFS is several times that value. Do you know that CoinFacts exists? If not, you might want to check it out. BTW, ebay has nothing to do with the ask prices of seller's auctions. Check below for a sample of the CoinFacts listing for the 43P(35% silver) with and without Full Steps.

So I was correct with my prior post.
How do you know which coin he is talking about?
Because.
