I don't believe Topps put cards in numbered order in their factory sets in the 80s or early 90s. I don't know about Upper Deck or Score. Someone posted something about Griffey Jr being scuffed from rubbing against the box in Upper Deck sets a couple days ago though. #1.
The 1983 thru at least 1993 Donruss we're in numerical order. The were cellophanes in 6(?) bricks in numerical order, with 2(?) puzzle sets in a factory box.
1986 Fleer was in both numerical and by team. No cellophane. I will use this opportunity to reiterate PSA should offer to grade Donruss factory cellophane bricks.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Pretty sure the 1989 Upper Deck was numerical as mentioned earlier. Pretty sure the 1987 Fleer wasnt
I just looked. 87 fleer glossy is in numbered order. At least the one I have open looks like it was ordered before I went through it.
1989 Upper Deck...if memory serves me correct, is numerical for a 100 card section. So, for example, when you open the box, the left-most card is card #100, next card is #99, and so on. Then, after the Griffey card #1, the next card is #200, then #199, etc. That way, the Griffey card won't rub against the purple storage box.
Whatever I read about the upper deck sets said something along the lines of, Upper Deck printed more to give to customers who were complaining about the card being damaged in the factory sets.. Maybe they changed the way the set was packaged at some point during the run.
Early 80’s Topps factory sets were not in sequential order. Can verify this through at least ‘84.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.
every 80s factory set I ever opened was in number order.....all manufacturers
I think Don West has a few factory set deals left. He'll start you off with an 1987 topps set and then just blow your mind from there!
Does Don have any 1988 topps factory sets? That set is loaded with HOF rookies.
So how did the company get the factory sets in order. The sheets are all over the place. Did they make sheets with them in order. Or just have a machine with the code to know where to go and sort them.
Topps was not in numerical order for sure. It may have had all the same sheet’s cards together but that’s it. I don’t even think there was card order consistency between boxes.
80s Topps were never in order from the factory. Pretty sure that Fleer weren't either.
Are current Topps sets in numerical or random insertions in factory box?
