2006 Limited Edition Kobe Bryant Jersey

Hello,

I purchased a new authentic Reebok 2006 Limited Edition Kobe Bryant Jersey from the NBA store in NYC. The Jersey was made in honor of Kobe scoring 81 points. The Jersey has 81 on the front and back and KOBE on the back I have not been able to locate another one of these Jerseys anywhere. I have looking for years and have spoken to many experts who have indicated they have never seen this Jersey. See pictures of the Jersey below. Has anyone ever seen this Jersey or know anything about it?

Thanks. Marc

Maybe it's a custom jersey for someone. I thought Kobe wore size 58 instead of 48.

  • It is not a custom Jersey made for anyone. It is a 2006 authentic Reebok limited edition Jersey I purchased at the NBA store in NYC. 2006 was the last year Reebok made the authentic jerseys for the NBA. Adidas and then Nike made the authentic Jerseys for the NBA.

    Thanks. Marc

Couldn't you just take any Lakers Reebok jersey from 2006 and have that stitched on it? I don't see how that is limited edition

  • I guess you could take any 2006 Jersey and stich on it. LOL. As I stated earlier, I purchased this Jersey in 2006 at the NBA store in NYC in its current condition. It is brand new with the tags. (see photos). Reebok confirmed it was an authentic limited edition Jersey that will never be made again. They cannot tell me how many were made. Authenticity is not an issue. How many were made is the issue?

Also, the Jersey on EBAY is different. It has Bryant on back, rather than KOBE and has no manufacturer tag on the neck. It also has a different label on the bottom of the shirt. For example, one says size M and the other says size 48.

Wish mine was signed. My mistake!!!!!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks. Marc

  • I am not a frequent user of these sites. EBAY or Worthpoint. Do you know how much those Jerseys were sold on EBAy.

    thx. marc

This one with fried chicken stains on it sold for $300:

This is a USA jersey, no tags, but mint, it sold for $435 USD:

Based on these two sales I would guess you could realistically get $500-$600 for yours, but that is a guess, by someone who has never bought a basketball jersey before

  • The 2 Jerseys above are nothing like my Jersey?

Thank you Vols1 for sending me the 81 Jersey. That was very helpful.

I want to reiterate that I haver never seen my exact Jersey anywhere and I have been looking for many years.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks. Marc

Barring any tagging or labels that mark this as a true limited edition, I don't see it having any value beyond a standard 2006 jersey NWT that's been customized in this fashion. It seems odd that Reebok would say it's a limited edition but then... not mark it that way in any fashion.

I'm not sure I understand. You can't find another one anywhere but you don't know how to use ebay or Worthpoint? Where exactly have you been looking? 🤔

It seems to be a commemorative jersey - a concocted collectable. The value is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I agree about the value. Put that sucker on ebay for a high price and see what kind of offers you get.

  • I have been searching on EBAY and GOOGLE for over 5 years. Spoke to memorabilia stores in LA and elsewhere. Reebok just confirmed the Jersey was limited edition and will never be made again. They also don't know how many were made. Also checked with NBA Store and don't have records that far back.

I need to get official letter of authenticity first and get framed. Any suggestions. I live in Florida.

any assistance would be much appreciated.

  • The Reebok label on the neck says it was manufactured in San Salvador. I have confirmed Reebok had a plant there in 2006.

  • The Jersey is a limited edition authentic jersey. I also know the history of the Jersey. I just don't know how many were made?

    Thanks

If you are just going to frame it who cares what the value is?

  • Keep it clean in mint condition. also, companies who give me letter of authenticity will also frame jersey and letter professionally. Will help to increase value

  • Call David Kohler at SCP Auction. That SOB (I'm using that term in a very friendly way like George Costanza used it) is an expert of Lakers, Kobe, etc,... and will tell you exactly what it's worth. Too bad it's not signed because if it was, you would be a very wealthy man once it's sold.

Be careful on who you choose, in general only a couple are considered legit and the others only semi legit.
