Not sure how many here care about this niche but I thought this article of Doug Winter's was timely and helpful to me.

He calls out the somewhat unexpected under-representation of Civil War era SF half eagles in Fairmont, beginning with 1860. His comment about the potential for a high-grade hoard of the 1858-S also got my attention. Auctions prices for the 1862-S up and down the grading spectrum blow my mind. Price and pop changes in the with-Motto run bear some careful thought too.
