  • But I still can’t figure out what the numbers mean. It almost looks like a compass rose.

  • So it may seem impossible but, yet possible. The Magellan



    cloud of stars actually correspond to the numbers on the coin, how navigation was carried out. I can’t find anything about 59, or Anna and 70, but they do correspond to stars named in Magellan’s time and used for navigation.

  • Just so you know this is what an astrolabe looks like. A compass of that time used to navigate by the stars

    Looks like a Mardi Gras doubloon.

    Sure looks like a modern, non-gold piece to me.
