Anyone going on vacation for the holiday? A small break from coins?

Just wondering if anyone is going on vacation? And if so, do you take a small break from coins? I just got back from a week at the shore. My husband and I went along with our daughter, her fiancé, and our two grandchildren. We had a blast but it’s amazing how quick a week can go. We’ve toyed with the idea of moving there, probably within 10-15 minutes of the beach. And even though I took a small break from coins (I didn’t see any coin shops) I was always checking my change. That hasn’t changed ever since I started collecting.

Yes! for the first time since pre-Pandemic, I'm going to the beach for a few days! I'll actually be bringing some reading material... one will likely be my new Large Cent Attribution Guide. Coins are a diversion from work and the daily grind... so is the beach. Mixing the two with an ice cold beer as I dig my toes into warm sand... doesn't get any better...

My wife asked if we could go sea glass collecting at the beach in San Diego on the 4th of July.

I told her that I would go to the beach any day of the year except the 4th. What was she thinking?

COVID numbers are going up! Please take appropriate precautions, especially if you will be in an airport or in a very large gathering.

the last SitRep WHO report i read (i used to follow them daily) was showing something like 100k +/- reported cases daily for the USA. i have no way to verify but if true, is still a pretty strong number imo. the one that is truly blowing my mind is the number for the total amount of people that have had C19 in the past 30 months or so, JUST in the USA.

Staycation! Working on my car restoration and yard, and fun stuff for the kids. It’s normally blazing hot this time of the year here but has been pretty mild lately.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Well, I can tell you some real world info. The numbers at my office were about 1-2 per month from Feb-mid-May. Since late May and early June, Im seeing 7/week. Its going to happen and people are going to travel. Common denominator, airports, concert halls and large gatherings. At least people are not getting as sick with it....yet.

Absolutely. We actually had Covid back in February, the whole family. Out of everybody I had it the worst. And let me tell you, it’s no joke. I haven’t felt so bad since I had the flu when I was a child. My joints felt like they were literally going to explode. And the skin on my upper body hurt to the touch. I couldn’t even wear a shirt or a bra that’s how bad it was. I was a prisoner in my own bedroom because I couldn’t very well walk around the house naked! Lol! I don’t ever want to go through that again. Everybody please stay safe! Make sure you have small bottles of hand sanitizer for each of you and use it frequently. And if you’re in large crowds I definitely recommend wearing a mask. Have fun everybody and happy 4th of July!

Gee, I thought you were going to follow up asking the addresses of those going on vacation, lol.

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

No misinformation here. Just a good ol' fashioned country doc here who is in the trenches and reporting what I see first hand. Believe what you want, we'll agree on at that.

Sounds like you follow my Golden Rule. I have pretty much been self-employed all my life. It affords me the luxury of avoiding the masses. I never travel on any holiday!

No misinformation at all... Covid-19 is definitely still with us. We're seeing an 8% positivity rate and it's likely under reported due to asymptomatic infections. Bottom line... keep current on vaccines, and if you're in a more crowded area wear a KN95. FWIW... I did my PhD work in anthrax and I postdoc'd in drug resistant malaria... beta Corona viruses are no joke! Let's be safe out there...

Well that’s fine and dandy for those of us who choose to get vaccinated. There’s a lot who choose not to, and I’ll leave it at that….
