BTW, If you think it's a an experimental alloy, you should be able to get compositional data from a handheld XRF. Find a gold buying place and see if the will test it for you. Why do all this high magnification work when the composition is quick and easy to verify?
Try washing with soap & water, if that doesn't work try some e-Z-est and watch your experimental alloy disappear.
