In history, why does gold get all the attention and silver hold all the value? Is there a sort of overall ratio? As it relates to coinage.

I can't wait for the coin store to open so I can complete my roll of 1 oz rounds. Then I will give them all away to others. These tokens. Medals. What are they will drive these people to the coin store. Where they can look at the coins of their ancestors and hear the stories.
