This is a question for the Error Afficiandos; I have a 1982-D 5c on 1c error on a copper blank that's throwing me off because there were no copper planchets designated for the minting of the 1982-D Lincoln cent. Does the fact that this coin was minted at Denver, and is copper, and is a wrong planchet error all at the same time make it significantly rarer than your typical 1980 p wrong planchet 5c/1c error? It is a certified coin weighing 3.06 grams.

The Denver mint Struck millions (and possibly more than a billion) of the 1982-D Large Date using copper planchets. so there is nothing unusual about the planchet type.

  • Ahhh you know what, it went right over my head due to being so focused on the rarity of the small date Denver 😆. Appreciate the comment, cheers!
