I had some crossovers to send in to our hosts and decided, since I wanted TVs on a couple of older holder coins, to try for an upgrade using the Regrade service. On a separate note, these went in for express service and were received and regraded and passed QA while, at the same time, another Regular Submission of mine was in (and remains in) Encapsulation. Sigh.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? Which coins, if any, upgraded? Results posted tonight.

Maybe reflection from the towel I used as a backdrop? It's just natural light outside using a cell camera. I can't ever seem to get decent/representative results with artificial light so I usually take pictures outside. Still not amazing but closer to reality.

    Liberty $10

I felt fairly confident about both of them, mostly based on (in my opinion) an outstanding strike on the $10 and very clean fields on the $5.

    The $10 upgraded to a MS63.
The $5 did NOT upgrade and remains a MS63.

    Thanks everyone and happy collecting!

I realize you just did the reveal, but my first take on these coins was that the 1902-S $10 should have been sent to CAC instead of PCGS.

If it went to CAC and received a gold CAC sticker then you would have had old gold in a PCGS rattler with a gold CAC sticker and, for a coin like this, it would likely be more valuable and liquid. Instead, you have a new holder with a good looking coin in it.

If both sent to cac, one gold the other green, both homeruns, here you get a good education.

Good advice that I didn't really think of. I would send a lot of coins to CAC but don't have the option as they are not accepting new members. But a gold bean (from what I read) is a rare item to get. And, despite loving the strike on the coin, the chatter in the fields makes me think a gold would have been unlikely.

However, once I can find a local dealer with a membership or CAC reopens, most of my gold will be heading there for review.
