The eBay Vault - for Trading Cards - interesting concept. Transferrable to coins?

I just received one of those eBay announcement messages regarding their Sports Card Vault. It seems like an interesting concept, maybe even a stroke of genius with counterfeiting being so commonplace. However, in true eBay fashion, there are more withdrawal, storage, instant transfer, selling, shipping, etc. fees than I could keep track of. What say ye? Works for Cards and Coins, or just Cards, or neither? Genius or Everyday Marketing?

If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.
