Why is PSA the only grading company that slabs Sports and Concert tickets?

I recently contacted both SGC and Beckett, and they both told me that they do not grade tickets. The SGC rep told me that they used to grade sports tickets, but no longer do.

I wonder the same thing…I also contacted SGC a month or 2 about a bulk ticket submission since I’ve seen SGC slabbed tickets and assumed they still did them…but nope. I was fortunate to submit a bunch to psa on their last $15 special but have a stockpile of others that don’t make sense at current prices, but I’d love to have them slabbed. Was hoping for a $5-10 authentic only bulk slab special from SGC….sign me up

Yeah, no way I am forking out $60 a ticket what PSA charges these days. I guess they will all stay raw.

How about packs? I was waiting to see what other companies would become competition for those. Seems that a 12+ month PSA pack backlog could be improved.

Genuine question - are fake tickets really a concern? I have a lot of lower value $200 or less sports and entertainment tickets from the 80s on, and it seems these would be difficult to fake without access to blank stock and the vintage printers. Just curious if anyone has insight. I would love to get my tickets graded from a PC standpoint, but the economics just don't make sense right now.

Except in rare circumstances, I think it is more about the encapsulation presentation and then getting a grade (if you don't request authentic), rather than the fear of the ticket being fake.

Makes sense. Having them slabbed and graded would be amazing. Hopefully the prices return to normal, regret not pulling the trigger previously.

Turnaround time for packs is now approximately 3 months at $50 level and 5-6 weeks at $100 level.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

That is a reasonable turnaround. The graded pack slabs are gorgeous. Wish I had more.
