Another ebay question-sorry.

Why do some seller's auctions have several photos, but only one or two will allow enlargement? Then some have some great looking photos but will allow no enlargements. To my knowledge, all of my auctions allow enlargements and again, to my knowledge, I do not do anything to allow/disallow this feature. I thought originally, that the sellers photos were so low quality that ebay felt they could not be enlarged, but don't feel that is correct as the one or two times I attempted to use lower quality photos, ebay disallowed the photo as too small. What is up with this?
Thanks,
Jim

In the phone app, all photos can be enlarged to my knowledge. I never encountered pics that could not zoom on the app.

Do you have an example? I've never noticed this.
I depends on the size of the photo that the seller uploads, large files can be enlarged small files won't.
I'm not sure on this guess for I've never done it either but have the camera zoomed in already therefore zoom feature is obsolete.
in my opinion
PS don't ever be sorry for asking a question
Just a guess
I don’t recall recent problem enlarging them. Could it be certain sellers? If so have no idea why.
This!
This has been an issue for me for most of this year. If you are searching for a variety the enlargement is a must. I'll look up one right quick.

Ebay has always prevented me from uploading a photo too small to enlarge, so I'm not sure if this is the issue or not.

Under Ebay's picture policy they demand at least one photo to be 500 pixels, but that doesn't stop some auctions to have at least one that does enlarge and many do not.

Correct, they will not allow you to load any smaller than 500.
If I load photos at 500 they will not enlarge, if I leave my photos large like 2000 x 1700 they will enlarge.
I'm not sure of the exact size it needs to be I think it might be around 800 to enlarge.
I try to make sure all of my photos will enlarge in my listings, a few don't make it after being cropped.
Then that must be the reason. It would be nice if ebay forced everyone to upload enlargement capable photos.
Thanks to all for your replies.

"It would be nice if ebay forced everyone to upload enlargement capable photos."
I would not be happy because sometimes I need to move the camera further away to get the true look of the coin and once it is cropped it's too small for enlarge.
Also some of my close-up photos of doubling would be too small so I could not show you that as a buyer.
No, it wouldn't. My camera doesn't take pictures that can be enlarged. If this isn't good enough...
move along to another listing.
I could zoom. Are we talking "hover zoom"?
When I look at the listing, I can see the image but it does not enlarge or zoom or anything.
It did on my phone in the app. I didn't try it in a browser.
I’ve never had problems with enlargement.
I think it has to do with the resolution of the photos uploaded. I have some photos that are large format, actual pictures of coins, and some that are just the minimum, which are stock photos.
I hope all the responses help to
I use the chrome browser on a desktop. When I open one of my own listings, it says "Hover to zoom" on the image until I move the cursor to the image, then it changes to "Click to enlarge". If I click on it, I get an enlarged view in a window that's about 10% larger than the image I uploaded for the listing. There is no "zoom" option.
And just to make it interesting, some of my listings don't zoom or enlarge- they're like the mercury dime listing that was linked to earlier in the thread.
Mine neither enlarges in Edge nor Chrome. Doesn't offer hover to zoom or anyother option when I hover with the mouse.

If you wanna zoom on any picture,,, take a screenshot & you should be able to zoom on said screenshot,,, I wanna say it has limitations but it's better than no zoom at all.

It zooms on my iphone eBay app, but will not zoom on my PC Chrome browser.

If you have a real computer and not be relying on a cell phone, you can add the SNIPPING TOOL to your computer and it will create a Paint image from any picture on your screen that you can resize to whatever you want,
I have that very tool, Frank and utilize it, but just easier to use mouse, which works well on the majority of ebay auctions.

OMG you just changed my life! I have been screen printing and then opening paint separately and cropping and saving from there. You just saved me several steps and a ton of time for a process I utilize many times a day. Thank you!!!!

I wonder if your page is fully loading. Sometimes it takes a while for an image to be zoomable. From the best I can tell, any picture above the ebay minimum size requirement should be zoomable to the extent of how much larger the picture is than the minimum required. A large picture will be more zoomable than click to enlarge if your computer fits the picture to your screen size.
PS, doesn't matter if I'm using Chrome, Edge, or my phone, if the uploaded picture is above the ebay minimum size it is zoomable.
