I just got back my 1953 Robinson and it came back recolored. Does that mean someone tried to color it in? Or was that a defect of the printing?

My understanding is that they see something that looks "touched up".
Most likely someone tried touching up some of the bottom black area with a black marker.

Is it worth nothing now?

If it looks nice it might be worth getting it slabbed as “Authentic”
Look at the edges directly - look for some bleed from a black marker - or use a black light (UV) to make the ink show up. It is definitely not worthless either way - just part of a raw set or, as DotStore said, have it graded authentic by SGC or BGS.

If it’s otherwise in good shape, still very collectible with decent value. Resub to get it authentic.
