Selling fake 1893cc morgan ....is that legal?

Currently on ebay a seller has a fake slab fake coin 1893cc morgan and is selling it under the guise of "questionable authenticity" if someone can post a pic that would be great. How can these people sleep at night.

The listing needs to be removed.

Seller ended the listing and I didn’t even get a chance to contact him and report it.😉

That's a pretty good fake just glancing at it. Vastly undergraded, but that may not help a new collector and this could easily fool someone.

I sent the seller a message.
How can PCGS be notified so they can put a "flag" on the cert number that it has been compromised?
Sorry, but I disagree. The apparent under-grading aside, I think it’s a poor one, that’s easy to spot.

That's fair enough, everyone can have their own opinions. While it's easy for us to see, the 1871-CC dollar with an altered mintmark that fooled at least someone and was pretty obvious can set the bar pretty low.

if they did that, they'd have to flag HUUUUUUGE numbers of certs, i've seen hundreds and not put but a C- effort into it. there are probably many thousands of compromised certs, provenances, attributions (errors/varieties) etc. for both pcgs and ngc.
imo, after looking at the selling history, it was only a matter of time before something like this popped up whether intentional or not. they sell all those low dollar items and this monster just HAPPENS to fall into the seller's lap. ok. surely it does happen. at least it was taken down, for whatever reason.
that being said, the coin does have the rev of a 79 and proper style/size date/mm but i didn't verify the date/mm position to see if the dies were made from a known authentic source coin. imo, anyone not able to catch at least the coin (maybe not the holder) probably shouldn't be spending that kind of money on coins yet, even from reputable dealers as they wouldn't have the experience to verify and believe you me, there are some big sellers out there that some pretty crazy stuff goes through unfortunately. NOTHING tops being at least somewhat educated and/or being able to do the research. it is the world we live in and it isn't going to get much better, just fact.
haven't i mentioned lately, i love the pcgs cert/barcode verify app? it obviously isn't absolute but another fantastic tool to have. i can't get this one to even give the not scannable error. that doesn't happen often.
ok that seems a bit more rantish than intended.
decided to add these images. look how terrible the hair is. wow
