Why do you take the bait? :/

The OP was out of line and so are you. I'd hate to see you get banned.

One thing that I would like is to see a monetary system that takes 250 years of inflation into account.

Scrap the cent and nickel. Create new coins from $0.10 up to $10. Bills for anything bigger, and we'd do well to have a $500 and $1000 note again.

Yeah, I know, it'll never happen, but coins would be relevant in day-to-day commerce once more. That would be a HUGE boost to the hobby.

This thread is a magnet to get banned. For your own good stay the hell away as it’s very volatile.
    My advice to all.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    Best course of action

    • Flag the original post so the moderators can deal with the post and member appropriately
    • Regardless of your political ideology, resist the temptation to post a "witty" response or angry comeback
    • You can always put a member on IGNORE if you dislike the content of their posts and lack of respect for the site and other members.
    • Repeat: do not get sucked into the political waste lend. There have been numerous good members who are now banned because they had to add their comments to worthless and irresponsible posts like this. DON'T BE THAT GUY.

I do not buy the fact that the op was not trying to bait people into a political discussion or promote his own political views and it is VERY obvious. If you are going to make a post like this at least live up to it Saying you tried to make it non partisan sounds ridiculous !

Dang! I tried to word it as non-partisan as possible. Flag it. If I delete the post, it's going to look odd. :|

You can never win with a thread like this so no use in trying.

Your best course of action is to change the title and delete your original post.

Same goes for anyone who posted political content. (I'll edit my post where I quoted @Herb_T ).

Actually, it's an interesting question for the dark side. A monarchy often has the monarch on the obverse. I would imagine that a popular monarch would influence the collecting of coins.

I think the question the revised OP asks is fairly straightforward from history WRT the US: with a few notable exceptions the President does not have an interest in either the hobby, the collectibility, or design of coins and currency.

In other places I do not think the head of state is interested in anything regarding the hobby but they may be motivated and/or interested in designs that promote a particular interest (including self interest).

About the only thing that really impacts the hobby that a head of state may instigate or approve of would be in changing the legalization (for or against) of previous coins/currency and/or metallic content.

The topic is inherently problematic. There is no way such a thread will not get political.

Until the moderators come in tomorrow and close the thread down and ban anyone who overstepped, the best alteration is to change the thread title to "Never mind" or the ever-popular "Delete" (which is guaranteed to get views and a few comical posts).

Your original post is best deleted and replaced with an obligatory " . ".

But that's just my advice based on seeing tons of these threads go over a cliff. ;)

    I don’t know and I really don’t care even if I knew.

Im sure the head of state can change things up. Going back to the dawn of coinage, it has often depicted victories and other events to honor the heads of state. Roosevelt changed things up for this country a different way. Lots of politics involved with the decisions made regarding coinage regarding what metals to use!
