I think I may have heard the story before, that's a whale of a pile, being an Early Copper guy the other coins sorta fade into the background and I'm left drooling over the 1809 large cent! :)

It was definitely an interesting group, because there were some better pieces of copper, my quarter, and then stuff right on down to a cleaned Canadian cent lol

That was all in a Ziploc bag sliding around on each other and came into the shop I work at almost a year ago. I promptly requested the quarter to be sent to PCGS and promptly bought it when it came back. The rest was dispersed over the next few months.

You really never know what will come in the door!

Circulated coin picture of the year. I love looking at that coin and pictures of a small pile of old coins in general.

The 1809 half cent is nice as well.

I like to call these pictures "coin porn."

Whoops... I meant half cent :) That would have been really something to find an 1809 large cent in that condition!!

I understand. My grandfather dug up an 1809 half cent along with other old US and foreign coins in his garden on Long Island and gave it to my brother and I many years ago. I became aware of the value of an 1809 large cent at that time.
