I think there comes a point where the corrosion/damage/cleaning overtakes the remaining details to the point where any "net grade" ends up on the negative side of the number line. IMHO, this is one such coin. PCGS lists the value of a 1794 (Head of '94) in P-01 at $300. I've seen material like the OP coin hammer at substantially less than that on ebay.

since i'm no expert technical details grader, i'll say xf details, corroded. (pcgs if holdered, probably call it vf details, MAYBE fine.
looks like a head of a 93. the head of 94 bottom curl has a bigger gap imo. BUT with the 4 looking like it touches the bust, that is a head of a 94 trait with many of those 4s touching the bust.

Because it is a 1794. And you want to make sure it is real.
Looks counterfeit. If real it is severely corroded. I would look for a slightly better example.

I would see it as a Net VG, but details of a F/VF. The corrosion looks like a freshly soiled garden bed.

I purchased it from a reputable dealer who knows these coins. He sold it without a grade.
I'd detail it at VF and net if at PO1.
The positives are the outline and detail of the portrait and the date. Many of these in lower condition have little
to no detail on the reverse. This one is a bit stronger, and although the porosity is substantial- it is a bit better than many I've seen offered at the price point ($250.).

Agree with VF details, Poor-AG net.
I’ve had trouble selling nicer ones than that for ~$250, but maybe the market for these is stronger now.
Way stronger now.
