In China, the sky turned blood red, people were terrified, they thought it was the apocalypse.

Apparently the Chinese are saying it was a fishing boat light that reflected off the clouds or something like that.

Of course, China is one of the worst polluted places, just look at the air quality in Beijing. If the world does not get a handle on burning all of these fossil fuels, global warming and climate change is going to be our downfall.

Something very similar happened here in October, 2003..It was during the worst fire season I've ever seen. I went up on a high plateau and took a 360° view. There were multiple huge fires in the mountains. The smoke clouds looked like nuclear bomb explosions. The valley filled with smoke and during the day time the sky was RED. For days. ........I just looked it up. There were 14 fires going on from around San Diego to Los Angeles. From my vantage point I could see many of them happening all at once. Here's some photos.

I can second the poor air quality in Bejing. We traveled there a few years ago and the travel agent recommended us to stay only in hotels above the 70th story. when we got there we found out she was correct. the smog usually settles down lower so the air quality above 700 feet is better.

I still remember getting off the plane. it actually made me nauseous for quite a while until I acclimated to it. It is not as bad as the pictures show every day though. some days it is quite clear and nice. it must have to do with the barometric pressure or something. the air pollution there is no joke though.

outside of the cities it is a different story thankfully. not nearly as bad.

This fire was at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California. It's situated in the Banning Pass between the San Bernadino Mountains and the San Jacinto Mountains. I just happened to be there when that fire started. I was getting my hair cut. Not at the casino. I don't gamble. Anyway, that fire just erupted like a bomb. Out of nowhere. That picture was taken when it started. It got much, much bigger.... Real quick!.....Incredible!

This picture from China, looks very similar to what smog conditions were often like in the Los Angeles, and San Bernardino/Riverside area in the late 60' early 70's period.

It was terrible. There was a steel mill that caused much of the problem in the Inland Empire area and that place was shut down. Then unleaded gas came along and all vehicles had to be smog checked........ Problem solved. The air quality here is now very good and clear......Amazing!

    Los Angeles Then.....

    Los Angeles, Now.....

    What a difference!

We need to stop burning so much fossil fuel. Just look at this, a photo of what Miami could look like by the year 2100 because of rising sea levels, Miami Beach has already had to raise their streets by 2 feet because of sea levels, and New York City is having to do the same thing, the ice in Antarctica is melting at an alarming rate, which causes sea levels to rise. No matter how much scientists warn everyone, people refuse to listen. I feel sorry for the future generations that are going to have to deal with the mess we created.

I agree Oh, Wise One.......But , besides nuclear power, I have no idea what the alternative is. It's not windmills, that's a pipe dream being pushed by the windmill makers. Have you ever seen the windmill farms in Texas? What a joke. Endless and endless mile after mile with minimum results at best and a horrible blight to boot! THE enviromental damage is way worse than any benefits..And solar???.....The same......Give me a break! That's an industry run by scam artists! Have you ever seen the solar panel farms on the California/Nevada border? Another joke. A lot to do about nothing. Together wind and solars main accomplishment is killing a lot of birds and desert tortoises. No nuclear?..... Then it's all a sham......When I drive on the SoCal Freeways, I ALWAYS think......THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS!......The whole concept; cars, cars, and more cars.......it's such an outdated system! At this point the technology etc. is PRIMITIVE!.....I hope I live long enough to see something better! I love my car. I love my trucks......but......forget about what I like.......the current system is unsustainable.
NOW......Back to reality......the repair job on my pickup truck.
The one Tom Brady wrecked...... Big breakthrough today! The part I need is on it's way........The thermostatic choke coil!!!!
    Yipee....!!!!

    Newsweek April 1975

#LetsGoSwitzerlandThe Man Who Does Not Read Has No Advantage Over the Man Who Cannot Read. The biggest obstacle to progress is a habit of “buying what we want and begging for what we need.”You get the Freedom you fight for and get the Oppression you deserve.

you still left us hanging on how Brady wrecked your truck. I think I remember you saying he wasn't driving it. And I guessed that you crashed and blamed the wreck on being infuriated with him. I believe you said I was on the right track. Anyway, so what gives? Tell us the story.

If you haven't seen this documentary, I suggest you watch it, climate change is real. You can't abuse the hell out of the Earth and expect nothing to happen. Some of the stuff in this documentary is truly frightening, stripping the Earth's forests bare, the ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, we're putting so much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere it's ridiculous. Yes, they predicted it in 1975, and it hasn't happened YET, but eventually the sh.. is going to hit the fan. It might not happen for a few hundred years, but it will happen because big oil companies don't give a crap about future generations, they want their billions of dollars, they'll do anything to protect that money. One day we will look back and say oops, we should have listened. You just can't continuously poison Earth's atmosphere and expect nothing to happen, eventually something's got to give.
