Here We Go Again, Franklin Mint Sets Rampaging AGAIN! Today's Ebay Results
I was watching some auction lots of Proof Sets on ebay as they closed today and was rather amazed by the results.
First came the 1981 Philippines set - this went for USD 567
Next came the 1982 Trinidad set. - this went for USD 585
The popper came with the Panama- this went for USD 880
These are quite high. Why? Well, the market for Philippines is buoyant, and so some of years are probably grossly undervalued in most catalogues in all likelihood. The same probably could be said for Trinidad, even though this is not one of the scarcer years in all likelihood.
The Panama set? Well, that was probably one of the sets with the mule 5 Balboa coins (with erroneous "Ley 0.925" reverses). IMO, that even in the current market is a very high price.
Surprisingly, but perhaps reflecting the market, the 1982 Br. Virgin Islands set went for only USD 67 - this set is more than likely much scarcer than the others but is of a country without much demand; that having been said a similar set sold not long ago on ebay for above USD 400.
Well, just Love coins, period.

just curious... did you look at the number of bids and different bidders?
And I assume we are talking about the 1982 Panama set?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
My recall is that there were 18 bidders and 28 bids but I may have them mixed up. I looked at the bidding on several other lots as well and was surprised at the T&T '82.

I had 1975 and 1976 Philippines proof sets on the BST for $100 each with no takers. Hmmmm…..
Who is the eBay seller
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Yes, well the 1975 and 1976 sets are sadly a bit more common. The 1981-83 sets (latter is Royal mint) are the "baddies".
