Newspaper article on baseball players being soft today!

As I'm sure one can deduce with the vocabulary, that article was written in 1913 and was comparing the 'soft coddled players' of 1913 to the players from the 1880's. It may sound a hair 'tongue in cheek' ...but the writer had a running column that had the same type of lamenting for the olden days.

Kind of reminds me of the common thread heard about today's players. I was listening to Roger Clemens talk about how they don't complete games like they used to when he pitched. It is ironic because back in Clemens prime the old timers said the same thing about his generation of pitchers...and that same thing happened to each previous generation.

Or when it comes to batters striking out now. In the 1980's they struck out more than the previous generation too, and that continued on backward for each previous generation.
