Please take a look and help me to identify this 1986 D Lincoln Cent!! Hopefully my first double die and not just another machine doubling misidentification!

Nothing there. Just a very ordinary circulated cent.
I see what you see in the date.........no not a doubled die. Sorry.
bob
Did you compare to known doubled dies of the same year and mintmark?
Maybe learning from books would be better than learning from YouTube.

Just an ordinary cent.
Just some split plate doubling, a form of machine doubling.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Maybe if people could quit be total jerks and started taking that time to possibly educate then maybe so many people wouldn't ask the same questions! Btw I have many coin books and spent many years learning from books and if you're anything other than a cave man you learn more watching hands on material rather than trying to read, understand, and process that material without seeing it for yourself! But I've ran into many of you slick talking guys in these forums and I try to stay level headed but you guys should seriously find something else to do with yourselves if life revolves around talking trash to people who are trying to learn and get information about supposedly the same hobby, you love! Just my opinion and with that said I'm walking away from this forum stuff because when you can't enjoy something you love doing and are afraid to seek information, then what's the point? And I'm also going part ways before I say something to these keyboard gangsters that I'll back up!!!!

The are countless threads on this forum from others asking exactly the same question.
Why not read through some of them and get a lot of free education?
I guess some people want to learn and others just want to get answers.
Now if you have read or looked at any of my other posts You would see that if I ask a question it is because I have exhausted other avenues! I'm not someone who gets on here and ask dumb questions on a daily! The 1986D Lincoln cent does not have a double die obverse that's been recognized that I could find! So I turned to the forum when I cannot find what I am looking for! Yes I may ask some of the same questions that many others have I'm not gonna sit around and read every single post like some of you do when you're commenting the trash instead of knowledge!

I don’t even see machine doubling.
And last I checked I didn't ask a single one of you to stop what you were doing and that you had to comment on this post! I simply asked, please help!!! I don't understand why people think that it's OK to run their mouths or talk trash to someone who is asking for help if you get tired of hearing the same questions move on to the next post it's that simple! It's not like you're forced to give your negative comments or smart remarks instead of information! Most of you act like you're almost too good to deal with new collectors! I hate to break it to you but you guys had to get knowledge from someone else you guys have to ask questions to get answers and probably had the same question multiple times just like us! But I don't even care because when a hobby becomes more stressful than enjoying I seek another hobby!

Fortune-in-your-pocket-change type videos have misled many new collectors into thinking that they can actually find valuable "errors" and "varieties". In fact, such finds are rare. Most minor "errors" and "varieties" bring little or no premium. Unless an "error" or "variety" has a WOW! factor that makes it stand out from the crowd it will be of little interest to the market.
There is a wealth of information available to anyone who will take the trouble to look it up.
The best, quick way to see if a certain coin has any desirable, known varieties is to go to the PCGS Coinfacts entry. For the 1986-D cent, there appear to be no known varieties which command a premium:

If there were any, they most likely will be listed. For example, for 1972, there is one major and seven minor varities listed:

@Jlynn8523 Here is a good site for info on the characteristics of a D
True hub doubled die (very hard to find(, and worthless doubling (lots in circulation). I recommend bookmarking them.

These have comprehensive listings of known doubled dies. If you think you have something, check these to see if you have an EXACT match

Relax. You have a point, but you'll never get them to change. Just ignore them.
"before I say something to these keyboard gangsters that I'll back up!!!!"
Now there's one I haven't heard before. "keyboard gangsters"
WOW..........they're gonna back it up!
Look..........sorry about the gruff nature of some replies around here. It is very difficult to keep explaining the same things over and over.
Look at some of the older posts and you'll see the same question, and same reply to it many times.
Coin collecting is really not that easy of a thing to embark on, in spite of what some think.
Pete
I'd sooner say that coin collecting IS easy. It's the "get rich quick"ing that's harder!
YUP..............I can agree with that.
Pete
A lot of this stuff comes from the revelation that "W" Quarters are worth more that regular ones has a lot of new peeps looking.

@Jlynn8523 My comment was not meant as a wisecrack. It is how to learn about coins and the minting process. One good book is worth more than thousands of useless videos online. There are some videos that are good but if you don't know which ones then a book is the best place to learn. I can almost guarantee that every person in this forum that is knowledgable about coins has learned much of what they know from books.
