2021 Morgan & Peace dollars are approaching a year since first offered. Are they a hit or a miss?

May 24th, 2021 (if my records are accurate) was the day we'd all been waiting for.
Of course delivery took forever. But a quick scan of eBay this morning shows 70 CCs are consistently selling north of $250. Peace dollars are doing even better above $500. And MS70 D mintmark examples are going for about $1,000 each with lots of sales on all.
Full slabbed sets appear to be quite popular, too, with prices in the $2,000 to $3,000 range.
Issue price was $85.
But in the +/- a year since the first day they were offered by the mint, do you consider these issues to be a failure or a success? Or is it too soon to say?

A total mess. Ruined mint coin flips even knocked out one of the best buyers out of the game. tainted the series.
I still haven't gotten around to opening mine yet... although the box with the D & S mint coins was wet and kind of opened its self.
If i recall the quality on the D & S were poor , I remember seeing visible scratches on two coins... so not surprising the 70s are going for money.
Surprised at the peace currently fetching so much... I know people were selling their preorder CCs for five hundred plus, but I didn't wanna get wrapped up in that fiasco and when they were in hand the market fell out almost immediately. I guess "new" flippers were running for the exits... interesting the prices have firmed a bit, and maybe due to the 2022 cancellation
I personally hope they don't make them for 2023 or anytime in the future really and then we can talk about how collectors started to appreciate this one year issue more and more.
It's all about what the people want...
lukemarshall i agree 100 percent with. Hope it was one and done.
Yep, I'd actually prefer these to be just 2021.
I don't want mirror proof, reverse mirror proof, or anything other than these. 100 year celebration is reason enough.

Agree with some of the other posts that the 2021 issue is enough. JMHO.
I got the 2021 Morgan P, D, and S, and the Peace dollar, all in great shape to my naked eye. I do not want to have them graded and I am not interested in the CC and O because they were made in Philadelphia and not in Carson City or New Orleans. Also the 1921 Morgan and Peace dollars were not made in CC or O.
I wish the Mint was producing the Proof Morgan and Peace dollars for 2022. The Mint should not have made so many other silver coins in 2022 and should have made the Morgan/Peace dollars instead.
If you people want the mint to stop putting out this dreck you need to stop buying it.
PM: sent how much for the 1921, 😉 Nice.
Hoard the keys.
I loved them. Really nice coins, the D didn’t grade well anywhere. I saved and ms fdoi set for myself. But sold basically the rest.
Wish I saved my d ms70s
I just wish they would have made them with the same surface finish as the originals - the 2021 coins do not even hardly cartwheel - they just don’t look like the real coins - Dan Carr does a better job!
Wow didn't know their going for that much. I still got mine in the box, about to get em graded by PCGS. Didn't manage to get the CC or O though. Hope to get at least one MS70 for each.

I still favor the originals of both series. More character.
Agree with favoring the originals but still, I was one of those who bought the 2021 Peace dollar and the D & S Morgans. Never had any interest in the CC or O or tried for the P. The CC and O made no sense to me for the 100th Anniversary being they weren't minted in 1921 and since those mints don't exist today.

I was fortunate enough to get two complete sets. I definitely will keep one set, just haven't decided on what I will do with the other set. I may keep both or sell the second set. I'm glad they came out with the 2021coins, however I'm hoping that they don't continue it on as others have mentioned also.
