Ae you being taxed on something you are buying? That would depend on your state.

If selling ebay started collecting tax on Australia, Canada, Europe, and a few other countries a while back.

Yeah, just bought a token from Canada and although not severely shocked was surprised I was getting charged my state tax.

I have been charged tax by ebay because the state the seller is in levied the tax....so Feebay said.....
However, the item was sent out of the country to Canada by theit shipping organisations.
ever since I do not buy from a seller who insists to use Feebay 's shipper charging exorbitant costs, somtimes invented costs, like customs charges which do not exist with most collectors coins valued at under USD420.
    (see UDSPS CN 22 form)

Today is the first day of the rest of my life

You have one strike against you. That's the bad apples. I tried mailing coins to Canada regular post for a little while and my losses were 50%. There be some dishonest Canucks up your way. :(

I quit shipping internationally years ago, too many high maintenance buyers. Canada in particular, probably close to half of the buyers who live there wanted me to declare a lower value for the coin than what they paid or to mark the package as a gift. At that time, I was dropping packages off at the PO several times a week and there's no way anyone would believe I was mailing that many gifts.
