RIP Mike Bossy

I've been an Islander fan since pre 4 cup run. Amazing player and memories. This is sad. Between Bossy and Gillies earlier, a reminder none of us are getting any younger. RIP.

Death is inevitable. Yes we are not getting younger. Bossy was amazing. Those islander teams were incredible. If he played with the 1960s Canadien teams, no one would mention LaFleur today, just Bossy.

A little trivia to lighten things up.

Who has 4 Stanley Cup rings and won an Olympic Hockey Gold Medal and a Stanley Cup ring in the same year?

They say he died of lung cancer. I know you don't have to smoke to get lung cancer. He didn't smoke did he??

Yes. He and many other athletes, announcers, and coaches smoked heavily back in those days.

It was a different time, before warnings about smoking became mainstream. Good article below.

Yeah. There’s a ton of smoking articles and facts from 1950-1980.
    From 1980-2020 it’s died down a lot.
Hockey, baseball, football and most of society was lighting up back then..
