More fake slabs showing up on eBay - Need the eBay Vault ASAP

Saw a few "Questionable" listings of PSA Graded cards on eBay today (Gretzky, Brett RCs). I have stopped buying graded cards from sellers I don't know until the eBay Vault goes live.

What does eBay vault have to do with fake slabs ?

If it's a seller I don't know, I will only buy a graded card from them if the listing has the eBay VAULT symbol to indicate that it is in the eBay Vault. eBay says they will verify the cards in their vault for authenticity.

Alternatively, if the Seller does not have the card in the eBay Vault, I would ship the card from the seller directly into my eBay Vault. No Sales tax charged, and hopefully eBay will authenticate the card once they receive it (or whoever they use for third-party authentication of the slab).

Seems like you're not having any trouble identifying fake slabs without the ebay vault.

You're kinda saying eBay started a card authentication authentication company. Maybe this will start a trend. Can start double and triple slabbing cards. For a fee of course.

Wait, you're saying the Trimmed PSA 7 Gretzky isn't legit.....

Here’s his Brett RC (left) compared to a prior sale from PWCC (right). At least PWCC always provided nice clear pictures of the cards they sold.

They aren't double or triple slabbing anything. The idea is they will verify that the slab is legit. Today's counterfeiters are getting more and more sophisticated. Sometimes it's easy to spot of fake. But there are slabs that might look legit until you actually get to hold it in your hands and inspect it up close.

Totally different cards with same s/n!!

I know, I'm sorta kidding. But, how do you expect them to verify that slab is legit? You think they're going to send it off to PSA so PSA can verify the slab? And once eBay verifies the slab, are they going to put a sticker on it?

Also, I don't understand how having your card put in the eBay vault gets around sales tax? Do you have to pay sales tax when you resell it or have it sent to you eventually? Do you have to have a resale license to avoid sales tax on the card being sent to the vault?

If I bought that Brett, which would never happen, I'd likely assume it was real. Which is a problem. But, I don't expect eBay to know any better than I do.

I have seen a good number of fake MTG cards in real slabs. I don't expect that eBay would be able to tell the difference.

Well the Brett in the fake slab looks like about a 6 so you need to actually look at the card in addition to the slab.

This is why I would pay a premium on the new PSA slab. Those old slabs are to easy open.

Regarding Sales Tax -- it must be similar to what PWCC and Goldin are doing. Since their vaults are in states that do not charge sales tax, if you have an item shipped to their vault, then no sales tax is charged.

I'm guessing eBay's vault will be in a state without sales tax. NOTE: eBay does have an asterisk that says when you withdraw your cards from the vault it is your responsibility to remit proper sales tax.

Regarding verification, eBay says the following:
Everything stored in the eBay vault is backed by Authenticity Guarantee, so you can be sure it’s genuine.
Independent professionals inspect and document every card before it’s shipped to the eBay vault.

Looks like the same seller sold a fake 1983 Topps Rickey Henderson PSA 10 today. I hope the buyer questions the card when they receive it.

Here’s a picture of the card that was sold

That looks about within the 60/40 centering spec for a PSA 10!!

It looks like the slab is fake..no Branded PSA logo. These are not resealed slabs.

    Thanks,
