How do Classic MS69s compare to Modern MS70s?

I've been running across more classic MS69s but not MS70s yet, which got me wondering how do classic MS69s compare to modern MS70s which are more common in 70.

Here's a MS69 which is a pop 3/0.

    One difference is that most Modern MS70's don't receive grade bumps for eye-appeal like a good number of MS69 classic coins have.
