As a Dealer or Collector, What Are Your Thoughts on Roundtable Trading, LLC?

numismanumisma Posts: 3,877 ✭✭✭✭

I have seen their logo throughout eBay and on the web. Seems like a nice, solid organization, but I stopped doing the national show circuit years ago. As such, I am out of touch and unfamiliar with the organization.

Is this a platform like Coinnet, or Certified Coin Exchange (CCE)?

What are your thoughts, please?

It's a large dealer network, and there may be some benefit to having easier access to that amount of material as a dealer. They say they will help bring accountability to dealers in their network that are unprofessional or exhibit bad business practices. That's potentially a good thing for a collector. I see it as a by dealers and for dealers kind of arrangement.

I see them from a collector perspective. And from that perspective, I don't really care whether an individual dealer participates in that network. It doesn't mean they can grade better, price better, or give better service.

One of the eBay sellers I buy stuff from for my eBay store is a member. I don't see where it makes any difference one way or the other for me.

I have bought a few coins from dealers with the Roundtable logo and while not having any problem with them, the logo would in no way influence me to use a seller because of it.

Thank you for all of the comments and opinions. Any Roundtable members here? Their website just does not fully explain what they do on the dealer side. I read about listing buys and sells, but I do not see evidence of that on their website. Maybe you have to pay them first? At least CCE shows you a sample of the dealer portal.

Proud to be a founding member. I will only say the dealers that are part of this network are held to a high standard and include many great names

I buy regularly from one on eBay who would be criticized unmercifully (putting it mildly) by many here for his item descriptions. Personally, I don't have a problem with them.

    Just sayin'. :)

I’ve dealt with a round table coin dealer in Idaho. Shipped over 10k in proof gold to him for a coin flip. It did give me more confidence in a successful transaction.

Thanks for the info Jon. Is there a place to post buys and sells like CCE? Kinda like a ticker-tape?

It is mainly a Facebook group, where all of the dealers are vetted. It is a wholesale trading platform much like coinnet or CCE. I tried it out for a couple of months, I think it has a lot of positives. The trading was easy, and it was a nice community. It was sad to go, but the cost/benefit was not quite there for me yet. I hope to be back on it at some point.

If you see the roundtable trading logo, you should feel confident in dealing with the dealer. It really is a good group of dealers.

Well @Tomthecoinguy you lost me at Facebook. I know little to nothing about Facebook and would not know how to handle it. Guess I am too old now!

Even though I have a personal and business page, I have never understood Facebook and never will attempt to figure out the concept. I hired an employee to handle our social media, but closed that department down a couple of years ago.

But thank you kindly for answering the question so well. I appreciate your time and insight.

My local B and M dealer is a member. Great dealer! He watches the site on a regular basis. I have purchased several nice coins he found on the site.

Roundtable Trading sounds like a PNG type of organization for smaller dealers.

I am a non-dealer member as a result of my counterfeit research and writings; a great network of vetted Dealers but you must be a member to participate. Main site is named Coin Dealers Helping Coin Dealers (CDHCD) and has several affiliated FB groups including my counterfeit focused discussion group. CDHCD's site is @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/CDHCD
