It sounds like a promotion aimed at the general public, probably from one of the TV sellers. The 1916 probably refers to the number of ANACS "First Strike" coins certified by them, not to the date.

I agree 1916 is the number of coins certified. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the US Mint or perhaps just the number submitted to ANACS for this label?
i never can recall whom pcgs crosses but it seems like at least 3-4 tpg holders and with that being said, i think the challenge will be keeping the 70 vs the first strike unless someone doesn't care and crosses at either 69 or 70.
probably best to verify before attempting though for anyone reading.

I'm not sure what the First Strike requirements are at ANACS. If they're the same as at PCGS then I would clarify that I was asking about the designation and not necessarily the grade.

It appears to be the 498th coin out of a possible 1916 total to be graded with this promotion-insert-description.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
What are the odds it would cross as a First Strike at PCGS?
.
part of the battle is accomplished in that there is at least a coin number for this already. (i wasn't sure)
