A friend of mine found this coin and not an expert of coins from this time. I’m not sure if it’s a real or fake but looks pretty good and leaning on fake. Any help would be appreciated. https://ibb.co/fQXwvXb

i revise my statement after looking at a high-grade example.
initially it looked like it may have been a period counterfeit. the collectable kind.

For comparison.
What leads you to believe it’s counterfeit? Nothing jumps out as being inconsistent with what a worn 1838 bust quarter should look like.
after looking at a high-grade example, the date and 25c are just wonky on these. the numerals resembled some i've seen in the past and i guess the images were just blurry enough to trick my eyes.
even the stars appear a bit quirky. i guess the circulation and blurry images could account for that too.

The first "8" in the date looks off.
The reverse rim looks too thick too.

Looks genuine. I think it's just the blurry image what is making it look off.
To out of focus to decide.

Edited to add: The focus causes the nose to look way off, but again with being blurry, can't say.

Here’s another lower grade example for comparison (PCGS F12).
While I’d prefer better images, the coin looks genuine to me.

I agree with MFeld. Theres only 1 1838 bbq die combo and this has all the attributes.. Nothing sticking out at me.
