Crazy shipping stories, part 32-b.
So, I wanted the 2022 JNDA and contacted someone I purchase from regularly in Japan. Between tax collection (he lives in Japan) and shipping issues he has halted eBay sales, but sent me a couple 2022s he had left with the idea he would invoice me on arrival.
Well, the post mark is 12/24/2021. The package arrived TODAY. I am suddenly better understanding why a few of the Japanese auction houses are not using Japan Post, and why my smaller lot wins are getting such huge shipping charges for using UPS or FedEx. Okay, I understood, but now I REALLY understand.
I don't think I've ever had anything take that long and actually show up, other than a registered mail package that had a well documented 4 month delay--not lost, just didn't move, but that is another tale.
So now I have two 2022 JNDAs, in case someone is looking.

I recently ordered a piece of jewellery from Japan - and it came via DHL in about a week.

Definitely okay with the commercial carriers, last couple actually came UPS. It was just pricey if all I won was a smaller lot that came earlier in the auction but lost 'the big one'.
I still can't get over the fact this package actually showed. In fact I need to go pay for it now!
DHL from Japan is pretty quick. You pay for the speed though.
