Rookies: Ripken, Clemens, Puckett..... opinions

Picked up a complete 1982 Fleer set and 1985 Fleer set. Thought these looked really nice. Opinions on possible grades? Anything look like a 10? The Clemens has the tiniest print dot in the red header where his name is, all the way to the edge of the red. Would this downgrade?

These are really nice. The Clemens I would say a 9 but I have also seen worst in a PSA 10 holder so it's really a gamble as grading can be subjective between 9's and 10's. The Puckett looks like a 10 from where I am standing. Personally, not the 10 I would be looking to buy if I was in the market for one with that rough cut, but I've seen them in a PSA 10 holder regardless. The Ripken is a coin toss. Not really worried about left to right centering. That shouldn't keep it our but I'm more conferenced with that bottom right corner so I would say a 9 on the Ripken.

    Clemens 9
    Puckett 10
    Ripken 9

Clemens 8 don't like the print dot and hoping it is not damage.
    Puckett 8 or 9
Ripken 6 upper and lower right corner dings. Is that a scratch or yellow mark starting from his glove and ends in the white border along the lower right side? If so, then 5.

Great looking cards. I think you are 9 and 9 on the Clemens and Puckett. Neither is dead centered for a 10. Ripken is likely a 7 due to upper and lower right corners, L/R centering and print streak next to his glove.

I just noticed. I checked all the Ebay PSA 10 Clemens for sale and sold. ALL of them have the tiny white spec in the red header!!

You should also be looking at all corners with 10x magnification. That will show more than you expect. If the corners still look perfect with 10x magnification, then you have a chance at a 10.

this is probably good advise but on older card stock I don't think there is such a thing of a perfect corner under 10X magnification

    1982 fleer ripken psa 6 or 7
    1985 Clemens PSA 8
1985 Puckett psa 9 or 10 (you have chance on this one).

Work hard and you will succeed!!

I agree with olb31. 85 fleer has a very low percentage rate on 10 , compared to topps, and donruss. A nine is tough also.

I agree with this though I don't think the Puckett has a shot at a 10.

Why would anyone disagree with jordangretzkyfan?
