I've always been fascinated by these photos of Olympic venues that were once centerstage of the world, teeming with life and activity, and now they're eerie looking ghost towns, forgotten and abandoned.

It's weird because these places were once centerstage for the entire world, and now they're just forgotten ghost towns.

A lot of places that have hosted the Olympics over the years have managed to put their facilities to good use, but Beijing, Athens, Sarajevo, have really wasted a ton of money on letting their facilities become ruins. I think China spent $40 billion on the 2008 Olympics, and their facilities are completely wasted.
A few miles from my house.

This is the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, it is the inspiration for the movie "The Shining", and it is haunted, they even give ghost tours there. Just like in the movie, the hotel is closed during the winter and a skeleton crew watches over it. The guests over the years have reported incidents of strange noises, eerie laughter, things moving on their own, and the apparition of the owner, Mr. Stanley who passed away in 1940, has even appeared at times in various locations in the hotel.
This is the Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, definitely haunted, I've heard about it.
Edinburgh Castle, Scotland
Nestled at the head of Edinburgh’s Old Town, this 12th-century fortress was, for many years, an active military base. If its stone walls could talk, they would tell grim tales, including that of a piper who entered the castle’s tunnels never to be seen—or heard from—again. To this day, visitors report music echoing through the fort’s empty chambers.

A prison, wow, that is insane!
