Incredible local Facebook Marketplace Pickup (T205 T206)

Hi Folks.

First off, if you don't keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace in your local area for cards, this might be a good PSA (no pun intended) to start. I do as I'm always looking for interesting material.

Recently met up with a local gentleman who inherited a really cool scrapbook a few years ago and was getting around to going through it and selling off some items it contained. The original owner had scrapbooked different items from around 1910 through WWII. Included were some T205 and T206 cards that had been clued in the scrapbook.

Unfortunately the gentleman who owned the scrapbook had ripped a handful of the cards out of the scrapbook already, but fortunately had just kept some of the cards attached to the scrapbook paper and I was able to remove them from the pages via soaking in tapwater overnight (which to my surprise is a common technique used on prewar cards glued to pages like this). The cards do not appear worse for the wear after soaking, drying, and keeping under a large book overnight to dry flat.

Obviously you do not come across pre-war material in the wild often. In fact, I never have. I assumed these were reprints when I went to investigate and meet the seller, but alas, it was legit. I made a cash offer for the entire lot once I determined the seller wasn't very interested in the cards, and he accepted my offer.

I will be sending some to SGC or PSA, I haven't decided yet. Not sure which may be more lenient on slight paper loss spots, particularly on the Mathewson. I'm open to suggestions on that. I will be keeping the Cobb and Mathewson and selling the majority of the commons.

Lucky pickup on this card, I didn't realize it was a rare card when I made my offer on the collection.
