2021-D & P Quarters - two finishes (very shiny & satin-like)

I noticed that the 2021 Quarters, D & P, have two different finishes, shiny almost PL and satin-like. I wish that my photographic skills were good enough to show comparison. Would the shiny versions be the result of fresh dies versus the satin-like? I will try and post images when I get back to the house.

Edit - sorry I had the wrong year listed. 😔

Denver (and the recent S business strike quarters, for that matter) tend to be hammered. That certainly helps the finish.

Over the weekend I amused myself by putting all the state park quarters (P&D quarters) into the Dansco album I had bought a few years ago. Something I noticed was that many/most of the Philly quarters had an almost pebbly texture to the fields that make the fields look dark or dirty depending on the light source and angle. I found a few of the Denver coins with a similar texture but almost all the Philly coins had that look to them.

I have also noticed that the Denver mint 2021 coins seem to have a very smooth pl look to them.

I've been noticing this for a few years now and it affects the other denominations too. I suspect it's due (in part) to the lack of the Denver mint producing any actual proof coins lately.

The San Francisco piece has a nice look also (from Mint roll).

    Denver makes shinier quarters.
