I have no knowledge in this area of coinage and thought I'd ask you fine people first before embarrassing myself at a coin shop lol. As far as I can tell it's at least supposed to be an "8 real" coin but like I said I have no experience with this era. Coin does not react with a magnet and is roughly about the same weight as a quarter give or take.
Any help would be awesome!!

Looks fake. A legitimate "8 real" should be near the same weight as a silver dollar.
It should look like one of these: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?r=8+reales&ct=coin&a=1500-1800
I thought as much... Had it for as long as I can remember and never thought too much of it. Always got the feeling it was overly squished together on detail and the side looked like two pieces of plastic slapped together and hastily trimmed.
Thanks for the help!
It's probably not a 'fake', more a 'reproduction' that isn't meant to trick anyone, but once taken out of context can easily do so.
Absolutely, definitely, 100% a replica. The kind that are mass-produced and sold in bulk in party supplies stores, for people who want to set up a "pirate treasure hunt" for the kids.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
Fake, replica, counterfeit. If you're interested in reales, there's much to learn about the different types of reales. Good luck. Peace Roy
