Question about 1997 Bowman Chrome Refractors

I have a few of both the regular and international refractors (baseball) and was noticing that all of them, everyone, has refractor lines. i went onto ebay and checked out a number of others and saw that everyone I looked at had at least one refractor line. some faint, some deep.

my question: do all 97 Bowman Chrome refractors have lines? if not, is it an issue that is known to be prevalent for that year?

back in 97 I was more into vintage and don't remember if there was any discussion at the time on the subject.

Refractor lines on 97 Bowman Chrome were a very common problem. They are pretty tough to find without the lines. If you look at the pop report you'll quickly notice that there are very few refractor 10's due to the lines.

thank you! I did some web searches and found nothing. you would have thought that by the 4th year producing refractors they would have been having fewer refractor lines instead of more. I wonder if Topps used a different printer for that product or if there is another explanation? a mystery that will probably never be solved.
