09-S (Non VDB) A first for me to see a counterfeit one of these?

I've never seen a counterfeit 1909-S (non VDB) before!
Look at what all is wrong with just the date on this coin,
Serif on the 1,
Straight tails on the 9's,
What else do you see wrong with the coin?

In some background chat (PM's) it was brought up that in the image of the reverse in the OP (Original Post) there could be some traces of VDB?? If so, then that would explain the first time for seeing a Counterfeit 09-S.
Not that it matters, its just for discussion, but we concluded that its possible that the counterfeiters intentions for this coin was a terrible attempt at a 09SVDB?

Strange looking counterfeit. The whole coin has a "soft" look to the devices except for the date.

I saw one from the same dies with the same odd looking mintmark but with a rim clip listed on eBay about a month ago. I cannot find the auction listing right now but it ran a couple of times with no bidders.

I see the same traces of VDB and I agree it was probably intended to be an 09SVDB fake. Maybe the lister did it that way on purpose - to entice bidders thinking they would get a 09SVDB at an 09S price???

Okay, it appears that the seller pulled the listing, the reasoned stated is the sold the item. I'm going out on a limb and say that its likely just one of the general selections for the reason to end a listing???
In any case the goal here was successful!!!

Darn! well, how about somewhat successful in that we forced the sellers hand and they Cut & Run with a LOWER bid about.
