Ukraine

I hope this isn't too political...
First my heart and prayers go out to the people of Ukraine. They are amazingly brave and patriotic and I admire President Zelenskyy and others such as a young woman in Parliament Kira Rudik (google her) who are bravely staying in the city to fight for their homeland. There is little I can do but pray for them and their countrymen, but that I will do.
The current events made me wonder about the coins of Ukraine. I looked them up (wikipedia) to learn about them and I am now hoping to find a couple to have some link to these people.
I hope for the best for them and their freedom.

I was at the 1997 ANA Convention in NYC and the Ukrainian Mint had a table there. At the time, I was kind of a beginner just branching out from US coins. I purchased some interesting 1996-1997 silver commemoratives from their table--maybe 5-6 coins, proofs and prooflikes. Very artistic.
When I lost interest in that area, I sold them on ebay about 10 years later. I probably doubled or tripled my money on them as interest became pretty hot.
That’s all we can do for now, tomorrow is another story.
Keep praying. Stay informed, but not too informed. Don't obsess on the situation.
Smuglr…Here here!!!
Coins/collecting/ our hobby, our happiness all pale in comparison to what the people of Ukrain are going through, let us all keep this in perspective and be thankful for what we have….
A very appropriate post. Thanks.
The coins of Ukraine look pretty cool.First photo from Coinweek:

I like how russia and china are blaming the west(US)for their actions.
That's like blaming inflation on money and crime on firearms. UGH
I have been wanting to vent about this and this seems like a good thread to do it on!
Where the hell is the United Nations? Why would they allow Russia to do this? I'm not seeing a valid reason for the United Nations to exist if they allow this to continue unabated.
Never in my wildest dreams in todays world could I imagine we would be witnessing this.
I am watching in horror as innocent civilians are being murdered in war crimes with orders from a tyrant.
I’ve worked with a number of software engineers from Ukraine and they are wonderful people. Very sad for them.
My wife's is Ukrainian. She currently does not know how her relatives in Kharkiv are doing, this is not good.

The Syrian government killed large numbers of their people...with the support of the Russian government....this is very sad...
"The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride."

On that note ... (agree with the OP about the opening statement(s) tho)
I wonder if the US Mint is going to cancel the Palladium Eagle this year?
Dont they source Pd from Russia? Do they already have it procured? Do we want to support Russia that way?
Not sure I want one even if they do produce it by years end. The collector in me wants to, but ...
I have removed my catalytic converter in protest.
To keep it numismatically related - if China starts getting (more) aggressive towards Taiwan, I wonder what happens to the Heritage and StacksBowers offices in Hong Kong? I wouldn't want to be planning a trip to that part of the world right now.
