Marvel Universe Series 1 - Help with information about the set

I picked up a few of these "Factory" Sets from a dealer friend of mine at a regular monthly card show back in the early 1990's. At the time he told me he got them directly from IMPEL, and that they were complete sets including the holograms.

The boxes are regular small cardboard boxes for smaller sets. The kind you buy at a local shop or trade show to hold about 200 cards.

On each side there is a paper sticker that says Marvel I #A0601 There is also what appears to be IMPEL Factory Tape that goes around the box to prevent it from opening. It does look like the IMPEL Logo, and says FACTORY SEALED under the Logo.

I searched the Item number #A0601, but could not find anything on eBay and a broader internet search came up empty.

I opened one of the sets and it was indeed a complete 1990 Marvel Universe set and also includes the 5 Holograms.

Anyone have more information on the history of these sets?

    Was recently going through my non-sports inventory, and came across these sets again (I posted about them back in 2022). Has anyone come across this type of set? I don't go to many shows anymore, so not sure what is out there. I didn't see any of these listed on eBay. Hoping someone here has some background info or has seen these at shows.

    The worm sure has turned on those cards , not so on the comic books mentioned in the thread.

    Speaking of which many Card issues with comic charterers are now hot but for most part non-key comics from same eras are cold which does not seem very congruent to me. Makes me think soemthign will change on one of those 2 fronts and my wagers is on the Comic Cards cooling not the non-key, non-outlier, non hot item of moment comics heating up.

    The original intent for this thread was to try and find out more about these "Factory Sets" that included all 5 holograms (pictured in the first post). I would still like to find out more about the history of these sets.

    That being said, holy smokes I was watching an auction last night for a base card 1990 Marvel Universe #29 Spider-Man PSA 10 GEM MINT (not mine -- it closed at $2,550). I searched "SOLD" PSA 10 for any other base cards from that set, and recent sales were from $100 up to close to $1K, but this same card (#29) sold for a little over $2,100 earlier this month. Can anyone explain why this card (#29) out of all the base cards is so high? And are there any other base cards in PSA 10 in the same price range?
