Is the sports card craze having and effect on the numismatic market?

What effect, if any, is the current sports card craze having on the numismatic market? While they are very different collectibles I see great similarities in the level of greed that seems to be inspiring many current, often new, participants.

I haven't collected sports cards since the late 1950's when I sadly left my entire rubber-banded hoard of baseball cards out in the backyard near the swingset overnight. It rained very hard that night ...

All glory is fleeting.

We're seeing high inflation because there is way too much money in the system. Things aren't appreciating. The dollar is depreciating. Numbers going up doesn't always mean things are more valuable.

7.5 percent inflation in 2021. 40 year high. And, that's just what they're willing to admit and broadcast.

If anything, all this hurts sports cards and collectibles in general. Because, people aren't going to have cash for luxury goods until the economy adjusts. Which will take many years.
