1914-D A different beast to judge here, (Its a phony) link added!

This is one is claimed to be a RARE double die date, it does appear to have such doubling.
But from what I can tell from the poor pictures the mint has the wrong placement???
Your thought?

Looking at this one for awhile I can't keep from thinking that possibly (????) could most of the original coin been scrubbed off, and then re-struct with a counterfeit date???

The mintmark looks too far right to me. As for the doubling, Variety Vista lists zero DDOs or DDRs for this date, and I doubt that this coin has any doubling, and I definitely can't judge from those pictures.

Yes, D too far right as stated - definitely a bad counterfeit. The "Doubling" looks like it's from reflection or from a flash as the D has the same thing going on with it - which the mintmarks are hand stamped into the older dies and thus would not be doubled.
EDIT - an example of a crappy made counterfeit die??
