1099-K and eBay... a cautionary tale

I finished doing my tax returns early today -- including the 1099-K from ebay.
Then I got an email from ebay...
"A recent technical issue resulted in a 1099-K form being incorrectly provided to you. Please disregard the incorrect 1099-K form. The incorrect 1099-K form was not sent to the IRS or California Franchise Tax Board.
"We’re working to resolve the issue and ensure that it will not happen again. Unless you had more than $20,000 in gross sales and 200 transactions in 2021, we will not submit a 1099-K form to the IRS or the California Franchise Tax Board.
"We sincerely apologize for the error and any inconvenience this may have caused.
"As always, thanks for selling on eBay, and for being part of the eBay community.

Now when I try to access my 1099-K on ebay, I get this message: "No 1099-K form available"
At least nowadays it's pretty easy to fix my tax forms online.

This year I have to file tax return for my recently deceased father, as well as my own.
1099 is becoming my least favorite number.
???
Getting a 1099 isn't the reason you owe taxes. What were you going to do if you didn't get one? Taxes would still be due (or not).
No, it's becoming a pain trying to locate all of the 1099s so I (or the CPA) can do the taxes. For my father, I'm not sure all of the 1099s are being forwarded to me, so I'll likely have to look at his last year's returns, see which 1099s are expected, and contact the relevant parties, and convince them that he is deceased and I am his personal representative, and ask for the statements. Blaaargh.
When my dad died, I went through something like that too. If anybody gave me any grief, I told them I was just trying to help and if my assistance wasn't sufficient, they could take it up with him.
Seemed to work.
edited to add... Not trying to make light of the subject. I know it's a difficult time, but there's only so much you can do.
edited to add (again)... My dad didn't have any assets worth mention, so there was nothing for my brothers and me to worry about walking away from.
Edited to say this post was a response to @moursund
Sorry for your loss.
Your idea of comparing what you have for this year to the forms reported on last year's return is about the best you can do. Might also help if you have access to any brokerage, checking or savings accounts you are aware of and look for deposits from financial institutions that would have sent 1099s that you haven't received yet. Worse case if anything is missing on the return the IRS will eventually catch up and send a letter. Best of luck.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Thanks, and I will stop hijacking this thread 😉
