63-65, prefer brown. Must be at least a "good" strike.

Why these don’t sell for more I don’t know as they are orders of magnitude rarer than ‘09S VDBs. As an example, there are currently “0” (none) PCGS certified mint state 1923-S Lincoln cents available in any public venue (eBay, auction, dealer websites) while there are over 90 similarly certified mint state 1909-S VDB cents for sale.
Supertough date, most have problems or weak strikes, really hard to find with attractive color. This was the era when San Francisco rode those dies hard (especially the reverses) and put them up wet!
But I get a lot more requests for SVDBs than 1923-Ss! Only one we have is in our Registry Set, 64BN, ex: Abe's Coloring Book. And yep, a very underrated date!
Good luck on the hunt!
Kind regards,
George
Still looking. I will pay in advance of PCGS price guide for a well-struck specimen.
I got nothing but good luck on the hunt! Personally I’m looking for a nice affordable raw XF/AU for my Dansco and even that is a real challenge.
"You can't get just one gun." "You can't get just one tattoo." "You can't get just one 1796 Draped Bust Large Cent."

@rays You may have seen this one. Not BN, and to me not RD either. And not to my taste, but your mileage may vary. The strike is decent, though.
