1979 OPC Gretzky PSA 8 Goldin Auction?

Just curious if anybody was watching this auction, I was flabbergasted to see a high bid of 76k with 10 days left in this auction! This card has been selling in the 18k-25k range for the last 6-8 months. What gives?

It is the first edition. That's why.

If you mean the blue print lines on the back of the card it shouldn’t command that much of a premium. The ones I have seen have not sold for this much over book if ever. Just wanted to point it out, agree or disagree.

It’s because of the big red blotch on the image. (Joke)

  • Card was pulled from the auction. Something fishy?

Never. They sold two Jordan rookies last year in PSA 10 on the same day in separate auctions for exactly $738k each. This despite the last sale being for $350k and $220k or so. Not like you can get a bump and get a PSA 11 on it or there are only one of them like a PSA Wagner - last time I checked there are 300+ PSA 10 examples. Pretty sure the person who was “convinced” these were a good deal at $700k plus is loving the fact they have lost over 50% of their value in less than a year x 2.

something seems a little strange with that listing
