Extreme Rarity ... Presidential Dollar Major Error Coins

It is extremely rare to find major errors in the USA Presidential Dollar Coin series.
I do have a few and this one just came in. It is an amazing coin with exceptional eye appeal. Just an awesome and extremely rare coin.
Post your Presidential Dollar major error coins if you have any.

Thank you for the education.
BTW no links to the coin nor is it for sale. But thank you for your input.
Question to the forum, Do you want me to post my coins on this forum or not.
You just said you sold it immediately after posting on instagram?
My 1866 Philly Mint Set
You also have repeatedly said everything you have is forsale!
Yes I did.
So every coin that I have is in my inventory all with fantastic photography.
It's your opinion that I should never post any of my coins on the US coin forum.
I educate forum members on this coin forum every single day. I guess I should stop helping others according to you
BST?

I enjoyed seeing the coin.....
Neat coin! Thanks for posting.
With the exception of museum accessions, every coin that anyone has ever posted on this forum has been for sale in the past, is for sale now, or will be for sale in the future.
I have learned so much from you that I don’t care where you post as long as I can read them and PM you with my newbie questions ( which you kindly answer). Errors, please don’t stop posting ,can’t those who don’t care for your style, just put you on ignore?

This extremely rare example is not only rare for the presidential coin series, but for all US coins ....
High Grade
I haven’t seen anything like it. I do recall seeing some small examples but nothing that large. 👍🏼

I have seen many struck in plastic coins.
However, this is the only one that has struck in purple plastic.
Ah. I couldn’t make out what the heck it was. Thanks What I saw must have been different than this.

The holder is labeled wrong. It should say "struck thru retained plastic"
Thanks for posting.
Pretty neat error dollars! Great pictures.

Keep posting.

I want to see them.
Yes
Ignore the idiots. The great disappointment of this forum is that I can only put five idiots on ignore.

Keep on posting them. I'm learning something.

Some wonderful stuff there.
By any chance did the collection have one of the Washington dollars with the elongated ray on the Statue of Liberty?
Regardless of if it did or not, what is your opinion of that variety?
TD
I like the coins. Please keep posting them.
I like spam and rice with a touch of teriyaki. Post away now if he said selling this one does any one want to buy it, then I would say spam or put it on the BST.
Hoard the keys.
Oh ya cool coin. 👍👍🏼
Hoard the keys.
No, this board isn’t about dealers pushing their inventory to drive sales or clicks. Do a market report like the rest.

I first saw this coin listed from Al's Coins. Then I saw it on his table in Long Beach but did not buy it and regretted it. He has long since passed away, RIP.
I ended buying the same coin from someone else a few years later. It's still one of my favorite extremely rare coins.
I have enjoyed seeing your error coins for years and hope to continue to. Thank you for sharing.

Hey, one person's spam is another person's processed pig parts.
Anywho, I don't mind seeing some dramatic errors, regardless of the source. It helps educate on what is out there and what to look for.
I like your error. I didnt know that existed
@ErrorsOnCoins I thoroughly appreciate and learn from everything you post. I just don't get the resentment. Peace Roy

Very nice coin! This is one I've posted before I believe.
Good to know it has the Al Wood and CTF provenance
Zions, the error coin dealer was well known and his name was Allan Levy.
Please continue posting your coins. I enjoy looking at them.
Ah, good to know! Apparently there are a few "Al's Coins".
I have four fairly "worthy" dollar coin errors. Once I find them I'll post some bad pictures.
One is a spectacular starburst pattern misanealed planchet, found in a mint roll.
The other three are individual errors due to a repeatable and as yet unexplained anomaly in the press that resulted in a small chunk missing from the rim and said chunk struck into the coin.
I have to give credit to Chris for getting me curious about modern errors! He to got me to look for Kennedy clips and now double struck Presidential dollars.
I did a quick search and found this one on GreatCollections. They are so similar that at first I thought they were the same coin and I kept looking for diagnostics even after I saw the cert numbers were different!

Al Levy (Al’s Coins) was a CPA and an error coin dealer. He set up at the Long Beach coin shows. He was one of the original contributors and consultants for MINT ERROR NEWS, 20 years ago. His extensive articles in MINT ERROR NEWS tracked many types of error coin sales and prices realized:

I have never understood the fascination with error coins.
To me it is like I go to buy a new car and it is an error because part of the hood or fender is missing.
They ran out of steel when stamping the part out but let it go tru the assembly process and it ends up on a finished car.
It is rare,,,,, it is one of a Kind,,,,,, would I buy it,,,,,,,,,,,, let alone pay several times the normal cost for it because of the "error"
Well the answer to that is a resounding NO!!!!!!!!
But,,,,,,,,, to each his own,,,,,,,,,, if you want to spend your money on an error coin then GO FOR IT.
Then you probably won't understand this
Well that error Morgan on GC couple weeks ago brought in some bucks so there is a market for this niche
100% positive transactions with SurfinxHI, bigole, 1madman, collectorcoins, proofmorgan, Luke Marshall, silver pop, golden egg, point five zero,coin22lover, alohagary, blaircountycoin,joebb21
The popularity of U.S. mint errors exploded over 20 years ago with the internet, ebay, websites and grading services slabbing mint errors. There have been record prices for mint errors consistently over the last two decades. Infact recently, a mint error in one of the larger Heritage Auctions was the most viewed coin!
I agree it has exploded recently.
One thing that I've always thought is that TrueView photos will lead to an explosion of interest and prices. As recent as 2018 there were barely any error coins with TrueViews, enough so that I even created a thread about it! Now it's becoming increasingly popular.

MINT ERROR NEWS has a 3 part series on the highest prices realized for mint errors in the Heritage Auctions.
Here is part one. Amazing prices!

Man oh man,,,,,,,, that coin is all wrinkled up,,,,,,, I hope you didn't pay full face value for it?
It's not mine (yet).
I saw it for $250 which was easy to walk away from.
Then I saw it for $50 which really tempted me, but I was able to resist!
Recent Heritage prices have been amazing, especially for modern proofs. I'm not surprised by how eye appealing they look.
Where is that at $50?, I'll buy it tonight.
Gone now.
At that price, you can make one. Send some to Jon!
I enjoy seeing the pictures of the coins you post. I'm amazed at some of the errors that get out of the mint and end up in collectors hands.
Please keep posting the pictures of your coins. That's the only way I'll ever get to see most of them. I appreciate your effort.
Naw, I use to market make those exact coins raw years ago. I had thousands of waffle coins at one time. I sold all of them raw except for getting one New York proof graded. I also did buy a few that were certified.
If that one was in a PCGS holder and sold for $50 then that is a very good deal for todays value. Looks like Jim picked it up.
