PSA 2022 Resolutions

Every good business needs to generate a mission statement...
PSA is stepping up along those lines with their 2022 New Years Resolutions.

I contend however they missed the mark on a few and lost out on an opportunity to slip a few important ones into the list.

Here is the original list:
Not sure if this is in priority order ...

  1. Eliminate the Backlog - Check
  2. Pull Back the Curtain - Check
    1A++ - Improve Quality Consistancy!!
Image Every Card - Not sure this is that important to the majority of customers! Not sure it belongs here...
5 - Expand Our Footprint - What Business Wouldn't have this one! - Check

I would add this item into #4 (May be a little too verbose for one line, though)
**Remember Where We Came From! ** PSA was grown out of the little individual submitters, not the $5,000 per card submitters
Submitters building the Set Registry with $6/$8/$10 per cards
If PSA can survive on $100 (or more) per card submissions - more power to them; they've seen my last submission...

2A++ - Lose the "MIN SIZE" designation.
Its irresponsible to assume that all cards (esp. vintage) are exact 3.5 x 2.5 inches.
PSA has already identified that there are oversized cards... they slip them into oversized holders!
Logic dictates that there are authentic, unaltered cards that are smaller - has to be!
They should be examined AND graded once they verify the card is authentic and not doctored. That's what the 4 edges are for!
And that supposedly is what the graders are trained to do - not just slapping a ruler on the card to see if its 1/64" short - call it MIN SIZE and move on to the next card...

There it is
MY New Years Rant!

I love to collect cards
It would be a shame if the little guy gets priced out OR PSA grading standards remain inconsistent (What me to post some pictures are cards graded with the new light house label?) I'll show inconsistency!

  • I saw a few PSA graded cards on the bay (new lighthouse label) and the card wasn't centered in the slab, appears the card rotated counter-clockwise when placed in the slab. I'd give it an 8 on the grading scale ;)
